Accessing your HP printer over a wireless network makes your work easier. But if your printer gets disconnected from the wireless network quite often, then you must troubleshoot it. Method 1: Fix using the HP Print and Scan Doctor

The HP Print and Scan Doctor application identifies and solves the printer hardware and connection problems automatically. To use the tool,

  • Go to the HP official website and download the HP Print and Scan Doctor application.
  • Run the HPPSdr.exe file from the Download folder on your computer. This will install HP Print and Scan Doctor on your computer.
  • Open the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool. Now, click the Start button.
  • On the next page, select your HP printer.
  • If your printer is not listed, then click My product is not listed.
  • Carry out the instructions displayed in HP Print and Scan Doctor. The tool will identify and fix the connection issue on your printer.

Method 2: Placement of the printer

  • See if your HP printer is within the range of your WiFi router.
  • If not, move the printer closer to your router.

Method 3: Reduce the WiFi channel interference

  • To identify whether there is channel interference, print the Network Configuration Page on your printer.

On Printers with a control panel:

  • Choose the Wireless / Wireless Network Settings / Setup menu to print the Network Configuration page.
  • Go to the Reports menu.
  • Choose Network Summary or Network Conf... to print the Network Configuration page.

On printers without a touchscreen control panel:

  • Hold the Wireless and Information buttons together.
  • Hold the Wireless and Start Copy Black buttons together.
  • Press and hold the Cancel key for about 10 seconds to print an information page.
  • On the Network Configuration page, see if the networks nearby your network are also using the same Channel.
  • If more number of networks are using the same Channel, then log into your router’s configuration page and change the channel to reduce the interference.
