HOW TO CONNECT CANON PRINTER TO WIFI

You can connect your Canon printer to any trusted Wireless network via the WPS (Push & PIN), or Standard connection method. Some printers may require a USB cable to perform the wireless connection setup.  The main purpose of connecting a printer to the wireless network is to perform any printer-related operation wirelessly from anywhere over a network. Make sure to assign the wireless printing or scanning operations from your device within your Wi-Fi network range. Before connecting your Canon printer to the Wireless network check the checklist mentioned below

  • Make sure your Canon printer’s initial setup is done properly.
  • Check if your wireless router is working properly.
  • Check your wireless network status by connecting it to the computer.
  • If the network status is poor or not in the expected range, then contact your Internet Service Provider and resolve it.
  • Keep theCanon printer and your computer within the range of the wireless router.
  • Note down your wireless network’s SSID and password for future use.
  • Connect your Windows or Mac system to the same wireless network that the Canon printer is to be connected.
  • Check if you have a printer driver file of your Canon printer.
  • If not, download your Canon printer’s driver file from this or printer’s official website.

WPS Push method:

Preparing the printer and your system for the network connection

  • Switch on your Canon printer.
  • Locate theWi-Fi button on your printer’s control panel.
  • Hold down theWi-Fi button on your Canon printer.
  • Once thealarm lamp starts to flashe, release the Wi-Fi button.
  • Make sure to do the above action within two minutes.
  • Wait for your Canon printer to connect to the wireless network.
  • If your Canon printer is connected to the wireless network, then thepower and Wi-Fi lamp will stop flashing.
  • If your Canon printer is connected to the wireless network, then thepower and Wi-Fi lamp will stop flashing.

WPS PIN method

  • Locate and tap or press theMenu option/ button on your Canon printer’s control panel.
  • Choose theWLAN setup option and press the OK 
  • On theWireless LAN Setup screen, select the WPS 
  • Now, two options will be displayed, select thePIN code method option from it.
  • A 10 digit PIN will appear on the screen, note it
  • Enter the noted PIN into the router’s web access page.
  • To do it, refer to your router’s documentation manual.
  • Once your Canon printer is connected to the wireless router, press theOK 

Standard Connection Method

Windows users:

  • On your Windows system, open your Canon printer’s driver software.
  • Click theNext  
  • Select theConnect to the network option followed by Cableless setup.
  • Perform the on-screen instructions.
  • Once your printer is connected to the same wireless network that the Windows system is connected to, return the driver installation wizard and complete the remaining set of the driver installation
  • Make sure to select the correct printer model and other preferences correctly when prompted.

Mac users:

  • Launch the Canon printer driver on your Mac system.
  • As soon as you open it, you will be prompted to enter your Mac system’s security key.
  • Enter the security key of your Canon printer in the given field and click theOK 
  • SelectConnect to the network --> Cableless setup -->OK.
  • Enable the Wi-Fi option on your Canon printer by performing the instructions displayed on the installation wizard.
  • Read and accept the end-user license agreement of the Canon printer when prompted.
  • After connecting your Canon printer and the Mac system to the same wireless network, try to perform a test print.

Using a USB cable to connect the Canon printer to the wireless network

  • Check if your Canon printer is turned ON.
  • If so, turn it OFF.
  • Make sure to connect the printer and your system using the USB cable only when prompted during the driver installation.
  • Check if you have the MP Driver file of your Canon printer.
  • If you don’t have it, then download theMP Driver software for your Canon printer from this or printer’s website.
  • After downloading the Canon printer driver file, open it on your system.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete your Canon printer driver installation.
  • On theConnection Method screen, select the Use the printer with a wireless LAN connection 
  • Ensure to tick the checkbox next to theSet up the network connection via USB option and click the Next 
  • Now, connect your Canon printer to the system using the USB cable.
  • Turn on your Canon printer and the system.
  • Wait for the connectivity process to complete.
  • Once it is done, click theComplete button on the final screen of the installation wizard.
