After Rebooting Printer Disappears

On a computer, the Print Spooler controls the printer server. This software helps in managing the print jobs that are stuck in the queue.Sometimes, whenever you reboot your Windows computer, your printer might disappear from the printer. The main reason for printer disappears after reboot might be the Print Spooler service being disabled or stopped unknowingly. To fix this issue, follow the steps given below.

Method 1:

  • Click the Start button and right-click on the My Computer or This PC icon. Select Manage from the context menu.
  • Double-click Services and Applications and then double-click Services to view all the services.
  • Scroll down and double-click the Print Spooler service to open its properties window.
  • Select Automatic in the Startup Type drop-down menu and click the Start button to enable printer spooling on your computer. Now, click OK.
  • Open Control Panel and check if your printers had reappeared.

Method 2:

  • Type troubleshooter in the search box and then hit Enter.
  • On the left side, click View all.
  • Select the printer to be fixed and follow the instructions on the troubleshooter window.

Method 3:

Perform a clean boot on your computer and check if the printer reappears.

  • Log in to your computer as an administrator.
  • Type msconfig in the search field and choose System Configuration.
  • On the Services tab of System Configuration, choose Hide all Microsoft services and select Disable.
  • In the Startup tab of the System Configuration window, choose Open Task Manager.
  • Select each service and then disable the startup.
  • Close Task Manager.
  • After making the changes, select OK.  
  • Now, reboot your computer.

Still, if the printer disappears after reboot, then uninstall the existing printer driver from your computer. Then, download the latest printer driver from the official site and install it to connect the printer again.
