The following are the troubleshooting steps that can resolve the HP printer won’t connect to computer with USB issue quickly.
CHECK THE POWER SUPPLY:
Check if you are getting a good power at your home.
At times, even a slight power cut or low voltage will stop the printer and the computer from functioning.
Make sure the cable connecting the HP printer and the computer is inserted firmly.
TEST THE USB CONNECTION:
Make sure to remove all the cables connected to the HP printer and your computer.
Now, connect the computer to the HP printer to see which port is working and which port is not working.
If the device works properly, then the issue is related to power. You can wait for some time and see if you have a full power supply. Then connect the printer to your computer.
UPDATE YOUR WINDOWS COMPUTER:

Type the command chkdsk /r in the Command Prompt window and press the Enter button.
The entered command will scan the system and fix the errors if any.
If none of the above methods could resolve the connectivity issue between the HP printer and the computer, you can order a new authentic USB cable and connect the HP printer and the computer using the steps described below.
Connect the printer to the Windows computer directly using the USB cable.
Make sure your computer is turned ON.
Connect the printer to the internet.
Connect the USB cable to the port on the HP printer. Connect the other end of the cable to the computer.
If your laptop has found new hardware, follow the prompts as follows to proceed to install the driver.
If your computer doesn’t recognize the HP printer, you can manually download the printer driver and install it.
While installing, make sure to choose USB as the connection type.
