Method 1-Utilizing HP Print and Scan Doctor

This method involves downloading a special version of HP Print and Scan Doctor that has been specifically designed to deal with printer offline issues. You have to make use of this tool to get your printer back online. Now, follow the instructions given below to do the same:

  • First, download the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool from the official site.
  • Next, navigate to the download location on your computer and run the HPPSdr.exe file.
  • When HP Print and Scan Doctor opens up, click Start and then choose your HP printer.
  • If you cannot find the printer on the displayed list, turn it off and then back on. Then, click on the Retry button.
  • In case there is any connection issue, continue with the instructions on HP Print and Scan Doctor.
  • If you see a screen that prompts you to turn on the printer updates, click on the Yes button.
  • You might find a prompt that requests you to make your HP printer the default one. Now, you have to click on the Yes button.
  • You can now try printing. If you find that your printer is still HP printer offline, move on to the next method.

Method 2-Setting up the default printer manually:

  • Click on the name of your HP printer and choose the Manage option.
  • Now, click on Printer Properties. Next, click the Ports tab and then click on the Add Port button.
  • In the Printer Ports dialog box, select the Standard TCP/IP Port option. Now, click on the New Port button.
  • Next, type in your HP printer’s IP address and then click on the Next button.
  • From the displayed list, choose the new Standard TCP/IP Port and click on the OK button.
  • In case you find a second printer in the displayed list of devices, do not uninstall either of the printer devices.
  • Try to do the printing and the problem should be solved by now.
