How To Setup Wireless Brother Printer

To set up a newly purchased Brother Wireless printer, follow the step-by-step procedure given in this article.

Step 1: Unpack the printer

  • Open the printer box, remove all the packing material, and take out the Brother printer along with other printer accessories.
  • Remove all the safety packing tapes from outside and inside the Brother printer.

Step 2: Install the toner cartridge and paper

  • Open the toner cartridge access area and take out the new toner cartridge from its packing.
  • Remove the plastic safety cover from the toner cartridge and install it in your printer. This may vary based on your printer model.
  • Now, pull out the input paper tray, adjust the width-guides, and place some plain papers. Adjust the width-guides again to the size of the paper.
  • Insert the paper tray into the printer.

Step 3: Turn on the printer

  • Connect the power cord that you received along with your printer between the power outlet and the power port on your printer.
  • Press the Power button on your printer and turn it on.
  • Now, using the control panel buttons, set basic printer preferences like language, location, date, and time.
  • Also, if your Brother printer supports Fax, plug the telephone line cord to the printer and the wall jack.
  • With this step, the initial hardware setup on your Brother printer is complete. Now, perform the remaining steps to install the printer drivers and connect your printer to a computer over a wireless network.

Step 4: Establish a wireless connection

  • Turn on your computer and insert the Brother printer software CD into it. You can also download the recommended driver package from the official support page of Brother printer manufacturer.
  • Make sure your printer and wireless router are turned on.
  • Take note of your wireless networks SSID and password. Also, connect your computer to the wireless router using a wired or wireless connection mode.
  • Run the Brother printer driver installation file on your computer and follow the instructions displayed on the installation wizard until the connection type is prompted.
  • In the Connection Type window, select the Wireless Network Connection option and click Next.
  • It is recommended to establish a wireless connection using a USB cable initially. So, select the option to use the USB connection and then connect your printer to your computer using a USB cable.
  • Now, follow the on-screen instructions to enable WLAN on your printer from the printer's control panel menu.
  • Select your network's SSID and then enter the password when prompted. Proceed with the installation wizard's instructions to complete the wireless setup.
  • When the connection is established, perform a test print on your Brother printer from your computer.

Alternate Method:

  • If your wireless router supports wireless connection using the WPS button, and your Brother printer has a Wi-Fi button on it, then turn on both the router and the printer.
  • Press the router's WPS button.
  • Press the Wi-Fi button on your Brother printer.
  • This will add your printer to the wireless network.
  • Now, any device connected to the wireless network can access the printer wirelessly.
