Dell's single, laser, and multifunctional printers are designed to deliver outstanding multifunctional performance and high-quality printouts. To use the Dell printer on your laptop, you need to install its driver file on it. You can use the software CD-ROM to install the printer driver. In case your laptop doesn't have the disc tray, then you need to download the printer driver manually from the Dell support page and install it on the laptop. The following instructions explain how to download the Dell printer driver for the laptop.

  • From your laptop browser, go to your printer's driver download page.
  • Now, click on the Drivers and Downloads tab.
  • Choose your laptop's OS type correctly from the drop-down menu named Operating system.
  • If necessary, in the Keyword field, type the name of your printer.
  • From the Category menu, select Printers.
  • Similarly, choose the desired format from the Format type drop-down menu.
  • Now, a list of printer drivers available for your OS type will be listed below.
  • Choose the printer driver(s) that you need by clicking the checkbox beside them.
  • After selecting the driver, click the Download button.
  • Now, the selected Dell printer driver will start to download.
  • Once the printer driver is downloaded, double-click on it.
  • Extract the driver file and run it on your laptop.
  • Install the downloaded Dell printer driver file by following the prompts displayed on the screen. (Note: Before running the driver file, make sure that the Dell printer is turned on and connected to the same network that your laptop is connected to).
  • After installing the printer driver, restart your laptop if prompted.
