Before moving to the troubleshooting steps, please do the following basic checks:

  • Make sure to turn on the printer while installing the printer driver.
  • Connect the printer and computer via USB cable.
  • Check for any damage on the USB cable.
  • If you find any, then replace it with a new cable.

Steps to fix printer not detected by the Canon driver:

  • Turn off your Canon printer and disconnect the USB cable.
  • Please open the browser on your computer and go to the Canon homepage .
  • Choose Canon support and enter your model name on the field or enter the printer's service tag to get a condensed list of drivers.
  • Select the Drivers and Download option.
  • Now, clickthe DriversSoftware , or Firmware  tab depending on your preference.  to resolve this Canon driver cannot detect printer issue
  • Choose the operating system from the list and click the Download
  • Now, connect the printer via USB cable, connect the USB cable's flat end to the computer, and the cable's square end to the printer. 
  • Open the downloaded folder, right-click the driver file , and click Run as Administrator .
  • Now,select Yes on the User Account Control window to install the printer driver on your device. 

Proceed with the instructions displayed on the screen to complete the installation and Try to take a printout. . If the issue persists proceed to the following method .

Uninstall USB Class Driver

  • Uninstall the USB class driver under the following circumstances.
  • Not able to install the Canon printer driver properly.
  • If the printer driver installed using a USB connection cannot be uninstalled. 

Uninstalling Printer Driver:

  • Click the S tart menu and select Device and printer .
  • Right-click on the printer's icon and select Remove device  from the drop-list.
  • Click Yes on the confirmation message.
  • Now, restart your computer and reinstall the driver. Check if the Canon driver cannot detect printer issue has been resolved.
